Dating in Seattle: Being Shy does not Mean Having to be Dateless

We are pleased to welcome our new blogger – Nichole G…

Dating is tough for many people, but it comes across especially challenging for geeks and shy guys. In the city of Seattle where dating itself is rare, it adds to the stress of acccomplishing such a task. Rather than “dating” in Seattle, everyone “hangs out” instead. But then, maybe that makes it easier. Less pressure, right? “Let’s hang out.” “Let’s go on a date.” Only one of those made my gut drop in panic. So, how do we get a woman to hang out with us? Let’s examine some dating tips for the Seattle geeks.

1) Lower your expectations. One thing shy guys cannot tolerate well is rejection. But if you expect a rejection and don’t recieve one, then you’ve already accomplished the hardest obstacle towards getting a date. If she says ‘no,’ no loss, and you find another target until you’ve got a win.

2) Take your date to do something you thoroughly enjoy. If you are doing something you are comfortable with and enjoy doing, your date will notice this. At this point, she will decide if she likes what you like and at least you’re being authentic, rather than fake or boring.

3) Talking is a distraction, so ask her a lot of questions. Women love talking about themselves anyway. And this way, you don’t have to sit around too shy and awkward because you don’t know what to say about yourself. Afterall, shy people do not favor talking about ourselves anyway. But if she asks anything, be hoenst.

4) Be well groomed and smell good. It goes a long way with the ladies.

Dating does not have to be a scary thing. It’s just taking that first step that makes it scary and seemingly impossible, but then it can become breezy and fun.
