Want to make a conservative happy? Tell them black teens murdered someone white.
…but don’t do your happy dance just yet, Dittoheads.
It was a senseless act of violence that took the life of a promising young athlete named Christopher Lane. 22 year-old Christopher, an Australian, played baseball for East Central University in Ada, OK. Christopher’s entire life was ahead of him until three teenaged monsters - Chancey Allen Luna, James Francis Edwards Jr. and Michael Dewayne Jones – killed him because “they were bored.”
Teen violence is as old as adolescence itself. These three will no doubt be tried as adults and should spend the rest of their lives in prison. No one is defending these animals. No one!
But the right-wing is exploiting this tragedy and equivocating Christopher Lane’s killing with the murder of African-American teenager Trayvon Martin. You see, in the twisted mind of the Drudge/Daily Caller/WND reader, this is some kind of “Reverse Trayvon” situation. To them, Black America and all of its representatives, from Jesse Jackson to President Obama, should come out and condemn this murder. It’s only fair, according to conservatives, because of the outrage expressed in the murder of Trayvon and in George Zimmerman’s subsequent acquittal. Plus, it proves that blacks are criminals who only want to kill white people.
The difference that conservatives can’t (or won’t) see is that George Zimmerman had a fan base. Conservatives cheer at the thought of Zimmerman “justly” killing a child. The Right will give you any one of a dozen excuses for Zimmerman’s act of violence. Conservatives sided with Trayvon’s killer, no one is siding with Christopher Lane’s killers. Shouldn’t false equivalence at least try to make your side look good, conservatives?
This is not an intelligent equation at all. It doesn’t pretend to be. Drudge et al are race-baiting their readers with the least subtle subtext imaginable.
Allen West, the Right’s token Black de jour (Where do they keep Armstrong Williams and JC Watts these day?), tweeted this useless point:

But let’s look at how this “victory” for the Right is more of a Pyrrhic victory:
Australians are calling for a boycott on travel to America. Why? Because of our guns. Whenever the gun debate starts to settle down, conservatives find some way to trump up a story that will galvanize the gun grabbers. It’s as if the Right actually wants gun control. Here’s what devoted gun-control disciple Piers Morgan has said of the Christopher Lane tragedy:
When an innocent Australian student is shot dead in Oklahoma for ‘fun’ – America’s gun crisis becomes the world’s problem.
There you go, Righties, we’re talking gun-control again. You’ve played right into Piers Morgan’s hands. Idiots! What did you think the debate was going to be about – banning black teenagers?
So have your little “Hooray for scary black teens” party, the rest of us will be mourning the death of a young man and trying to keep our guns legal.
