So what does it look like when McDonald’s teams with Visa to model a budget for its low-wage employees? Very cold.
You’ll notice in the ThinkProgress chart below that Visa thinks going without heat is a great way to save money.
You may also notice that working at Mickie-D’s isn’t enough to live on. Yup, McDonald’s workers are advised to get a second job to make a go of model living. This, according to Visa’s budget, will bring you enough to pay $20 a month for healthcare and $600 a month for rent. Perfect for 1981!
If workers save as budgeted by these guidelines then they will only be $400 shy of the annual cost of crossing the 520 bridge.
