TCA (Television Critics Association) is like Comic Con for couch potatoes. Television (that thing poor millennials watch on their phones) is abuzz with the latest rumors and projects. Our favorite buzz this particular minute is the talk of spinoffs of some of our favorite shows:
The Dexter spinoff is still a probability. From IGN:
Showtime’s president David Nevins announced that Dexter‘s showrunner, Scott Buck, had signed a new overall deal, to develop new projects for them. Later, (when Nevins was asked) if the Dexter spinoff was still in play, expecting him to say no, Nevins answered, “Of course. We announced a new deal with Scott Buck today. Draw your own conclusions.”
Another spinoff in the works: CW’s Arrow is expected spinoff fan fave The Flash (Barry Allen and, sadly, not Wally West). Flash will make his Arrow debut as soon as episode 8 or 9 this upcoming season.
Got room for more? If you’re like us (which is scary) then you have a fondness for CW’s Supernatural. It’s getting a spinoff and it will take place in Chicago. The “backdoor” pilot could happen this year. Don’t worry, this isn’t the last season of Supernatural and the new series will not poach any of SupeNat’s characters (Castiel is staying put and will finally be a cast regular). So if you love Chicago but wish it looked like Vancouver, this will be your show.
